Fay stumbled out of the water, shaking her coat out quickly. Water sprayed everywhere. She had just taken a swim to calm her nerves. She had just been on a chase with a deer. The deer had won, but she had bitten in bad in the hindquarters. She didn't like hurting animals like that, but to survive, she had to.
She walked over to a big pine tree, almost like a giant umbrella over her head. She immediately felt the temperature lower as she walked into the soothing shade, feeling the suns rays stop beating down on her fur. Having a long coat wasn't too much of a good thing when you were a Waterhound, especially if you were the Alphess. In this case, she was.
Fay curled into a ball and watched her land silently. She had started a pack, and was looking for members. She was waiting for other dogs to come and ask, and if that didn't happen, she would go searching. She didn't like to search, it made her seem desperate. Oh, well.
She sighed and watched as the grass fluttered in the breeze. She turned her head slightly and started licking her fur, something she did when she was waiting for something. She was happy, but also stressed.

James stalked a deer, it seemed to have been already hurt for it was limping and would be an easy catch. He said a short prayer, thanking God for this animals meat. He sighed, he hated having to kill something, but he had to eat somehow. Amber eyes focused back on the task at hand, he lunged, quickly snapping the doe's neck before it noticed he was even there.
James dragged the doe to a part of the lake that barely anyone came to. He dropped the fawn under a tree and sat beside it, he pulled out the liver and ate it greedily. He was starving and the liver was the richest, most satisfying part. His eyes drifted towards the lake, it sure was beautiful in the autumn sunshine. Suddenly he saw something, a female sat under a tree a little ways away. She was the most beautiful creature he had ever seen. His mouth fell open at her gorgeous figure and coat, sparkling with water. He gulped, she hadn't seemed to notice him yet. He cautiously dragged the deer he had killed towards her, making sure not to look like a threat. She looked hungry, "Wou.... would you like some?" He stumbled, offering her the deer. Don't be so stupid! God, you sound like an idiot... do you really want to mess this up? I mean look at her, she's gorgeous He thought angrily to himself.

Fay had begun to lick her fur, trying to keep herself cool. It had been a particularly hot day, and she had done a lot of running. It felt good to go in the lake, it cooled her off and it relaxed her aching muscles. She had several cuts on her legs from the twigs and brush that had been sharp. She licked the cuts, something her mother used to do when she was a puppy.
She heard footsteps, then a soft voice.
Wou...Would you like some?
Fay looked up at the other dog. He was a bulky dog, and didn't walk so elegantly. She giggled slightly at the other stray; she was used to elegance and class her whole life. But since her owner, a rich dog show trainer, had to give her up, she was a stray. She had gotten used to it already; she adapted well, because in all of her dog show challenges, they always gave a last minute twist. She learned to catch onto new things quickly.
I'd love some, thank you, She said smoothly, standing up slowly and picking out a piece of meat silently. She swallowed it happily and sat back down again.
My name is Fay Abelené Moncheté. Please, call me Fay, She said in the familiar french accent she always knew from her owner.

Fay's voice was even more beautiful than she was, French. She talked with such elegance, moved with such grace. James found his tongue hanging out of his mouth, he quickly corrected himself. His cheeks turned bright red and cleared his throat. "Im James, you can have the rest of that if you want..." He said, beckoning to the deer. He tired to stop looking at the beautiful creature called Fay, but he just couldn't. He tore his eyes away from her to not seem creepy, he looked out at the lake. James cleared his throat again and tried to look big and important. "So... is there a good pack around here that I can join?" He said in a fake deep voice to seem really tough. He wanted to add preferably the one you are in, but that would seem desperate and stupid.

Ah, a pleasure to meet you, chère. James is a handsome name, I must say. No thank you, it is yours, bébé. She said. She did want the rest of the deer, but she did not like to eat too much. She giggled as James stared at her constantly. She fluttered her tail elegantly as he looked away. He was shy, unlike his bulky appearance. He was different. A big dog, a fighting one, too, that was sweet, generous and shy. That was a hard one to come by.
Yes, yes. Waterhounds. They reside here. I am Alphess, if you could not tell. She said, raising her head eyes and keeping her posture straight. She walked forward, closer to James. She smiled.
Are you interested in joining? She asked, her accent slipping on certain words.
She was eager to know if he would join; he would be a good addition to her pack. He would be a good guard, and if, just possibly, he won her heart, a wonderful alpha. He seemed calm and smart, never overreacting. She liked that, not just for her mate, but for all her members.

The sun started to set over the gorgeous hills in the west. Not even its beauty could compare to Fay's. His eyes focused back on her, his cheeks grew once again very red when she said he had a handsome name. It was stupid, why should that embarrass him? She just said that he liked his name! Why should he get pleasure out of that?! He smiled, knowing that she must still be hungry, he left the doe be. His eyebrows raised when she said she was alphess. Not only was she beautiful and charming, she was an alphess. James bowed his head, not meaning to intrude onto her territory. "Im sorry, I did not mean to intrude on your territory... I would love to join your pack, if you would have me" He said. He gathered up all of his courage, "So does there happen to be an alpha in your pack?" He asked, trying to sound casual, but it came out in a stutter.

Fay looked at the sunset, a twinkle shimmering in the corner of her eye. It was beautiful, the orange, red, yellow, and pink gleaming off of each other. Every now and then, a huge ray of light would explode in the sky. She liked those things; especially when they were pink. It was her favorite color, and she especially loved it when it exploded in the sky for half a second.
As she turned back to James, a little sparkle in her eyes, she smiled. He was blushing. His face was as red as a tomato; she giggled on the inside. She had never seen a male dog blush before. She had even done it before, when she won competitions, she would blush at the crowd and hide her eyes with her paws. Everyone thought it was too cute to pass by, and they gave her the medal for "Most Adorable Dog."
As he said he was intruding her territory, she shook her head and chuckled. Intrude? Oh, no. I am the only member! She said, now encourage that he would join. But, the next words he said surprised her. She already knew he wanted to be her mate, but not to the extent of being an alpha. But, Fay actually liked James. He was the ideal mate for her. But, she would just answer his question for now.

James saw her see him blushing, this made him blush even more. He turned his head, so not to seem stupid. James riased his eyebrows at her answer, "It is still your territory though" He said, but changed the subject. He noticed she didn't answer his question about alpha. Weren't alphas always the alphess's mate? He just wanted to know if she had a mate or not before he goes falling in love with her. He let it go, he would have to prove himself to her. James smiled, "Guard would suit me well I think, since nobody else has taken that rank. Besides, an alphess will need protection from other packs right?" He said, but instantly thought it was a stupid thing to say. "Um... ya know, from like bigger and stronger dogs... wait thats not what I meant..." He said quickly, trying to correct himself.
OCC: Maybe Fay could get kinda mad from him saying that she needed protection ya know? Like she could start saying things in Frech and pin him down or something xD

Fay, being Alphess, needed some time to think about his alpha question. She began to answer it after he said that it was still her territory; she knew that. She needed more members, but should she accept it? She knew she needed members, but practically asking to be alpha was a hard one to answer. Yes, yes. I know it is mine. And no, I do not have an alpha yet; I am looking for one. She said, trying to keep that topic. But then he changed the subject completely.
He had said that Guard would be a good place for him, because no one had taken that spot. Also, he said that fay would need protection. And that completely set her off. He thought she needed protection? He had judged her by her looks! How dare he! She thought. A glare formed in her eye as he tried to take it back, but she wouldn't let him. She wouldn't let it go.
You think I need protection? What, just because I am French means that I am a girly girl who screams and cries in pain at every single cut?! Well, let me just show you what I am made of! At this point, she was growling and walking toward him. Then, she exploded and tackled the other dog into a pinning state. Comment pouvez-vous penser cela! Je suis très bien sur mon propre! Je demande seulement pour les gardes de mon sac! Comment osez-vous dire que j'ai besoin d'être protégé! It translated to: How could you think this! I am fine on my own! I only ask for guards for my pack! How dare you say I need to be protected!
OOC: Heh heh... XD

James tried to cover up what he said as best he could, "I... I didn't mean it that w-way!" He pleaded, backing up as she started to growl, a glare entered her face. Surprisingly, she was even prettier when she was angry. "No! I didn't mean you were girly.... its just your beautiful, the most beautiful female I have ever seen. And males would want to.... ya know, and I wouldn't want that to happen to you" He said, but was afraid he had said to much. By this time she had pinned him to the ground, James was wrong, she was much stronger than she looked. Even though he could easily get out of her pin down, she held him there pretty well. He just laid there, letting her yell at him in French, waiting for what he just said to sink in. Maybe since he told her how she felt she would stop yelling and understand what he really meant.

Fay continued to keep him in a pin. She did not speak, she did not growl. She breathed heavily, a sneer on her face. She exhaled with a soft growl. She kept thinking about what he had said. No! I didn't mean you were girly.... its just your beautiful, the most beautiful female I have ever seen. And males would want to.... ya know, and I wouldn't want that to happen to you. He was a sweet dog, and he did make a point. Plus, he had called her beautiful. No one every thought her of beautiful, but they called her a mean, snotty rich girl who was selfish and probably was given up because she was "all-that." He thought her differently.
Finally, she climbed off and sat down. She lay down and hid her eyes with her paws. I am sorry, James, I'm sorry... She whimpered. Her ears drooped, and her whole body just seemed to fall guilty, like when you are in court and the jury pronounce you guilty. I do need protection. I need protection and an alpha. She said, admitting she needed others to keep her pack going. She pretended to be independent, but once she said no, she realized she needed others.

James saw something flash through her eyes before she berried them in her paws, guilt. He sighed, he hadn't meant to hurt her. "No.... no don't be sorry, I should have been more careful with my words, I know how it feels to be misjudged" He said soothingly. He gently nudged her face up from her paws, and they looked into each others eyes. She admitted that she needed protection, and an alpha. That comment caught him off guard... he went from cool and calm, back to stuttering mess. He gulped, "Um... you need an alpha? Well.... um" He said, but pulled himself back together. "What kind of qualities are you looking for in this alpha?" He said nervously. He laid in front of her. They still looked into one another eyes as if in a trance.

No, no. It is my fault, I am the one who cursed in French, not you. I see how you are misjudged. I misjudged you when I met you, cherè. She said, blushing and covering her eyes again as he lifted her head. She did not like giving eye contact, it made her feel jittery and gave her the strange feeling in her stomach that she should trust the person. She gave no trust for anyone, no love. She only would trust her owner, and she vowed that until she found him, she would not befriend or love any other dog.
She raised her head again, gaining her confidence back. He stutter out a question, asking her what she wanted in an alpha. One who is strong, brave. Knows what to do in trouble. Knows how to fight, of course, and good with pups. She explained, picturing the perfect mate for her. The image was another collie, head held high on a hill, a pup between his front paws. The wind fluttering his tail in the breeze.
Of course, she would never find that. It was too much to ask for, and she had a millionth of a chance to find a dog like that. It was just a small chance to even find another purebred collie, let along a brave and strong male. She found herself looking in James' eyes, but she didn't bother to look away.

James sighed, she was probably thinking of the same breed as her. Of corse, he was nothing like her breed, if they were to have pups, they would be mixed breed. He was fine with that, he would want them to look just like their mother. He sighed, what was he thinking? How could he ever end up with Fay? They were complete opposites. He was handsome sure, but he would look like an idiot standing by this beauty's side! He might as well try and win her heart, she seemed a little bit interested in him... "Well... I know someone like that, he's strong, loving, smart, protective of his family.... oh! And he adores pups.... I think you would really like him" He said with a small smile. Of corse, he was talking about himself. His tail wagged a little, hoping she knew what he was talking about.

Fay saw the disappointment in James as he sighed. He knew he wasn't the right dog for her, that he wasn't good enough. Although if they did become mates, they would have mix breed puppies. She did want purebred puppies, her whole family and friends had been purebred, so she loved the thought of having pure collie puppies. Keep the pureblood generations going. She sighed at the thought, and she knew that was a rare chance of happening.
If only Daniel did not give me up, She muttered under her breath, keeping it to herself. Well, at least she hoped James didn't hear. Some does had the ears of a hawk these days. Daniel was her past owner. His image was burned in the back of her mind, the proud young face when he had won the European Championship with Fay. He looked down at her and promised her, 'I will never forget you, Fay! Never!'
As she described the "someone" he was recommending to her. She decided to go along with it, feeling less guilty by the second. She began to forgive herself, knowing it wasn't her fault. She didn't want to blame it on James, though. Blame it on France, She thought, something she always thought when she didn't know who or what to blame.
Oh, really? That sounds and awfully lot like someone I know. Do you think you can introduce him to me? She said, a grin on her face.
